Ford Motor Co. (F) on Friday announced sharp cuts in its North American production that would force it to partially shut down plants in the U.S. and Canada in the fourth quarter.

Ford is the first of many to report sluggish sales and low profits. Gee, I wonder if the cost of gas has anything to do with this? I can speculate there will be several more companies doing the same. This is having a huge impact on logistical carriers, trying to cut costs, when external costs keep rising. It doesn't work.
