2008 Dodge Viper totally revealed - will make 600HP »
Posted by: JohnNeff 1 year, 9 months agoWe're not sure what's more surprising: that another embargo on information relating to a vehicle scheduled to debut next month at the Detroit Auto Show has been broken, or the fact that the already mega-powerful and super fast Dodge Viper will be even faster thanks to 90 additional horsepower that gives it a grand total of 600HP!

Dec. 28, 2006, 9:08 a.m.Another example of Benz stealing all the talent from Chrysler. The style of the Viper and Dodge Ram is getting long in the tooth.
600hp will make it a beast. I hope people know how to drive it or we'll see lawsuits stating no one needs 600hp and we'll all be driving four wheeled Vesper scooters.

Dec. 28, 2006, 3:46 p.m.wow...this thing sucks. It looks like a 97 design! me and a million other artists could have drawn up a better design over a bagel and a coffee man. Talk about who you know to get your job

Dec. 28, 2006, 5:14 p.m.As a twenty year employee of Mercedes Benz, I can tell you this Viper will be just like the rest. A pile of junk rattle trap that handles just the same. Get a Charger and you will be a lot happer.

Dec. 28, 2006, 5:15 p.m.Yeah, a muscle car that guzzles gas. Just what a fading car company needs. A niche car that'll sell to 1000 rich people.
The products under the Dodge badge typifies why American car companies continue to lose market share and credibility with the mainstream car buyer. They're not innovating. Bigger engines, more air vents? How about some cutting edge technology that excites the mass consumer and appeals to their desire to drive cool cars while doing less damage to the environment? MikeDunn2222 has it right. Dodge execs need to check their calendars--its 2007 not 1997.

Dec. 28, 2006, 5:35 p.m.Weird - no progression at all. At a time where companies are, thank god, coming out with more interesting, good looking designs, this car offers nothing.
Below mediocre looks - just horsepower. Having driven a viper a couple of times, I found the "old one" to be an extremely uncomfortable car, very hard to live with, and without question way below the level of ANY other high performance car in all apects. By the look of it, no improvements here.

Dec. 28, 2006, 9:48 p.m.All the money thats put into research and development and the best they can come up with is to cut 6 holes in the hood and add 90 horsepower. Way to go Mopar! You've got another winner. I dont know about everybody else but i think i'll save some pennies and go for the supercharged vette that'll still kill Mopar's little snake.

Dec. 28, 2006, 9:49 p.m.I agree..none of the Vipers handle worth a hoot..they need a completely new package to compete

Dec. 28, 2006, 11:29 p.m.When you get past 400HP or so all you do is smoke tires, very little improvement in the quarter mile or top speed. As in the Vette C6 vs Vette Z6 vs Viper data.
Still, I like the new 'stang,
but I have always been weary of a dodge going over 70mph or so. They are the least well made of American cars. I sure would hate to be behind a Viper or any dodge, and have a muffler come through my windshield.

Dec. 29, 2006, 12:56 a.m.There is also a computer system in some upscale vehicles called traction control. Where it will cut back the torque so you won't waste tires, gas and HP. If you have a good overall vehicle you will have a race car. Not just a car with a bunch of HP. That will never happen as long as dodge is designed for profit, not reliability or real performance. And that's too bad.
