Roush actually owns (and flies) at least two P-51 Mustangs.

While i'm not a big Jack Roush fan I have to admire his success in more than just one field. I wish the article would have been about his efforts to save the P51s but once again it's just about a gas guzzling car. Here's a couple links to P51 sites that Jack had a hand in.

Very nice. The history of the P51 is designed in 30 days without much sleep. Some P51s manufactured in the US and sent to England. Not much enthusiasm for design. English swap to Rolls Royce engine for more power to show the Americans the effectiveness of their design, and the rest is history.

natashas: Me too. I had a '66 with a 302 built to the hilt. Roller bearings and cam. Edlebrock high intake manifold and 4 barrel carb. Solid lifters, heavy duty valve springs. Hooker headers and a four speed. With a set of L 60-14's on the rear and G 70-14's on the front. Air shocks and traction bars. She was one fast litlle puppy. Miss that car. Gave 'er up when I got married and had kids. LOL

Mustangs have always been the ugliest piece of crap on the road.. I guess it's nice to see the continuation of this history.

Mustangs have been among the ugliest cars for sure, but they have made some of the prettiest as well, the Mach 1 for instance is a real beaut. The Shelby doesn't count any more than the Roush line because they are not true ford products but they are works of art in my books. Every line of cars has a swan and a duckling.

I wonder how hard it would be to shoehorn a Shelby all aluminum 427 @750hp in there?

If the kept true to their history it would be easy, the mustang platform is easy to make what ever changes you want to. They usually keep the engine bay large enough and free from the extras to adapt just about anything.
