Could lead to some very good 'stuff' for not only cars but for other areas of commerce and business. Go Benz!

Someone needs to tell those krauts to give up on the compressed hydrogen stuff. It's totally impractical as well as extremely dangerous. Anyone remember the Hindenburg? All you need is a decent leak and ..... BOOM! You get there a lot faster than you expected - albeit in pieces. A different, less dangerous and inconvenient (and less EXPENSIVE) way of fueling those fuel cells needs to be developed. This is fine as an exploratory first step, but don't kid yourself, you are NOT going to see compressed hydrogen filling stations on every corner. Ever.

No mention of cost. Until the cost can come down, people will still by gas cars. Greenies or not.

It is good to see the experimentation with other fuel forms, but a much more expeditious lowering of emissions can be had by producing autos which get better mileage. That also will help the pocket book.

The new Camry hybrid is slated to get 38mpg on the highway and 40mpg in the city. Even if one only experiences 80% of those figures, that is a bunch better than the average auto gets right now.

A lot more effort needs to be put into developing cheaper batteries for the hybrids.

It was not too long ago that fuel cell stocks were all the rage on wall street
